Freedman’s Campaign is a vibrant celebration of the freed Black Americans who fought in the Civil War against the Confederacy.

Held every April 9, on what we know as Friedman’s Day—marking the day the Confederacy surrendered—this day honors the achievements of foundational Black Americans after the war.

It’s a day where all who benefit from civil rights—immigrants, women, and all who cherish freedom—

We also extend appreciation to those who have built their careers by engaging with, representing, interviewing, and even influencers drawing inspiration from Foundational Black Americans.

May this day be an opportunity to show gratitude and honor the very community whose history, culture, resilience, and contributions helped shape the platforms and opportunities they now stand upon.

We all come together to give thanks, reflect, and celebrate.

It’s a joyful cookout of unity—inviting all to show up with love, or revealing who still clings to hate—on April 9.
